IDIOMS & IDIOSYNCRASIES

JANUARY 5 - FEBRUARY 28, 2024

This group exhibition, Idioms and Idiosyncrasies, presents a sensory gallery experience through a series of drawings and sculptural vignettes. Influenced by folk and decorative art practices, Zwickel’s intuitive pen and ink drawings explore realms of magic and devotion. Elizabeth Pineda’s ephemeral, printed works offer a moment of pause before being confronted with Jackie Brink’s decorative kitsch, affected with emotionally charged, exploding kintsugi, and Future Retrieval's unexpected nature-inspired contemporary craft.

The surrealists' call to “revolutionize human experience” is encapsulated by Future Retrieval, Auberi Zwickel, Jackie Brink, and Elizabeth Pineda. They elevate the hand-made traditions of craft, pattern, and print, conjuring altered states that vacillate between the real and the imagined, where discovery and experiences of wonder heighten the senses.
