Now based in Phoenix, Michael Afsa grew up in Los Angeles and graduated from the California Institute of the Arts. His minimalist wall sculptures reimagine mundane moments in suburban architecture and capture the aura of the expansive American Southwest. Influenced by his time immersed in West Coast art and design culture, Afsa distills the narrative to the essentials in his exhibition. He strategically arranges fabricated forms to create a playful and poetic interaction of light and shadows. Reflective hues symbolizing the fading and rising sun encourage the viewer to pause in stillness and introspection.
